Who are we?

We are a team with a mission! It is really hard for search tools, marketplaces and shops to get sustainability credentials of products on a product level, as products often come from different brands and sources with different levels of transparency and data availability. That is why we decided to create Impactbytes! We make product sustainability data easily available across the web, so that any person and business can make informed choices about what to buy and sell.

About this role

You need to be based in the Netherlands for employment, but we would also consider freelance collaborations throughout Europe.

You will join a small team which is responsible for designing, developing and deploying ambitious software and data pipelines that power Impactbytes’ mission. In particular, you will be focusing on the Python-based backend of our internal and external tools and data interfaces, as well as creating and updating data pipelines - crawling the web, algorithmically enriching product data and designing best-practice databases and infrastructures. You will also help craft best practices in the organization and help create a world-class technology team that will grow with the company.

Additional role details:
  • You are based in the Netherlands and are comfortable communicating in English (no Dutch language requirements)
  • Freelance option can be considered
  • Full-time position (but a possibility to start with part-time options)

What we are looking for

  • Strong Python + Django engineering and architecture experience
  • Experience building APIs and Celery task queues
  • Experience with Python-based web scraping
  • Comfortable with SQL, Unix, Linux, Docker and basic DevOps principles
  • More experience with Redis, DRF and DevOps is a pre
  • Interest in improving the technology, architecture, methodology and collaboration environments
  • Comfortable with being proactive (e.g., taking the lead in fixing problems), independent and working with evolving requirements and environments
  • Ability to effectively communicate what you are working on within the tech team and with other business functions
  • Ability to navigate our tech stack, including Python3, Django, Django REST Framework, Celery, Redis, MariaDB, GitLab (pipelines), Docker, (multi-)cloud deployment, (NodeJS, TypeScript, VueJS).
